As the leading police-scientific competence center of Switzerland, FOR is responsible, among other things, for securing evidence at the scene of the incident, forensic analyses in the laboratory, and reporting in court. The institute is an independent public-law institution of the Canton of Zürich and the City of Zürich. To complement our team, we are looking for a Specialist for forensic media analysis and software development, 100 % starting 1 January 2027 or by arrangement. Your tasks are: * Construction and operation of the area for the structured incoming inspection and forensic preparation of image, video, audio, and other media data * Performance of recurring incoming inspections as well as forensic analyses and authenticity checks of media data * Extraction and preparation of data for downstream forensic analyses as well as collection and preparation of media-related reference data in the field * Development, integration, continuous updating, and further development of in-house tools, AI applications, and automated testing and processing pipelines * Taking over, continued operation, and further development of existing applications for the technical as well as the administrative and operational institute operations * Central contact person and technical support for employees regarding questions on media and data analysis as well as on AI-supported procedures. If necessary, punctual support with general IT issues * Participation in forensic cases as well as creation of technically sound reports and expert opinions * Optimization of forensic workflows as well as administrative and operational institute processes, also outside of one's own specialist area. Leading or participating in smaller projects * Presentation of developments, services, and topics of forensic media analysis at external specialist and continuing education events What you bring with you: * University degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, computer vision, data science, bioinformatics, or a comparable field (doctorate an advantage) * Several years of relevant professional or research experience as well as proven experience in the processing and analysis of image and video data * Sound knowledge of media formats, codecs, and containers, compression methods, and the technical properties of digital image, video, and audio data * Experience in professional software development as well as in the construction of robust testing and processing pipelines * Knowledge in computer vision and AI, experience in forensic analysis or authenticity checking of media data an advantage * Experience in scientific or forensic method validation * High self-motivation and resilience, especially when dealing with distressing media material * Flexibility and willingness to reliably take on innovative development tasks, but also recurring routine work and tasks outside the core area * Very good German skills in speaking and writing, very good English skills, other languages an advantage We offer you: * A wide field of activity in an exciting and varied environment * A professional and cheerful team * Attractive employment conditions and a central place of work with good public transport connections * Continuing education opportunities and space for the implementation of your own ideas Are you interested?
