Zurich, Switzerland (and home office) | 80-100% The contribution you can make <br /> • Ensure the use of the HPC platform (CSCS) for MeteoSvizzera applications and promote its further development in collaboration with internal and external partners • Collect and prioritize needs arising from operational activities, research and development, representing them at CSCS, as well as coordinating improvements in terms of system performance, stability, and scalability. • Develop components of numerical weather prediction systems and the related workflow and data management infrastructure, adapting them to new technological requirements. • Provide support and consultancy to researchers in the fields of software development, use of HPC resources, and system operation • Ensure the reliable operation of production systems critical to business activities (including best-effort extraordinary interventions and third-level support) <br /> What distinguishes you <br /> • Master's or doctorate in computer science, computational sciences, or a related field • Several years of practical experience in software engineering, preferably with Python and modern software development practices, as well as with cloud-native architectures • Experience in the operation and further development of high-performance computing (HPC) environments, as well as complex data and software workflows • Ability to collect, prioritize, and translate the technical needs of various stakeholders into concrete solutions, collaborating with internal and external partners • Good knowledge of at least two official languages and English <br /> In summary As a member of an agile and motivated team, you will take on a key role in managing the CSCS platform used by MeteoSvizzera. In collaboration with internal and external partners, you will ensure reliable and efficient use of the platform, coordinate operational and development needs at CSCS, and contribute to the evolution of production systems and software components used in numerical weather prediction. Within the team responsible for operations, you will also participate in the operational management and monitoring of production systems critical to MeteoSvizzera's activities.
